EAST MARSH INVOLVE; AND COMMUNITY CONSULTATION

by Steve Beasant on 28 March, 2009

The next community meeting of East Marsh Involve will be one of the most important meetings that as taken place within the ward for many years; it will be discussing proposals for the regeneration of Guidlford Street and the wider area.

Residents are being given £210,000 by North East Lincolnshire Council to spend on environmental improvements, and East Marsh Involve along with other stakeholders will help to formulate an action on how to spend this money. As Ward Councillors we want to see a lasting benefit to the community; we want it to make a major impact on the area! £210,000 may not be enough; to achieve all the needs of the community, but if the money is used intelligently we may be able to pull in match funding.

This months East Marsh Involve will immediately follow North East Lincolnshire Council’s Consultation Event, which is being held at the Grimsby Neighbourhood Centre on Tuesday 31 March and starting at 4pm. East Marsh Involve will start at 6 pm within the Grimsby Neighbourhood Centre which is on the corner of Weelsby Street and Wellington Street – East Marsh Involve Meetings are often well attended and at a meeting in November, more than 60 residents of all ages attended.

Local Councillors are always present, along with Humberside Police, Community Wardens, Alan Burley (East Marsh Development Worker), and many agencies that are appropriate to the work of the area. Residents often highlight many issues, such as: flytipping, boarded up properties, underage sales, crime and anti-social behaviour; and Ward Councillors and agencies often draw up action plans – then report back to the next meeting.

Everyone is welcome to attend, and if you unable to attend this meeting – the meetings are always held on the last Tuesday of every month at the Grimsby Neighbourhood Centre, 6 pm.
