Yesterday, Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather’s bill to tackle retaliatory evictions was published, ahead of its second reading on Friday.
Commenting on the bill that will stop landlords evicting tenants who make a complaint about essential repairs or poor conditions in their homes, Liberal Democrat Minister for Communities and Local Government Stephen Williams said:
“This bill has the potential to protect tenants from landlords who evict them simply for reporting problems with a property.
“I was delighted Sarah chose to raise this issue and that the government has supported her.
“Liberal Democrats are building a stronger economy and a fairer society where everyone has the chance to get on in life and feeling secure in your home is a big part of that.”
