GRIMSBY GETS READY FOR A ARTS AND CRAFTS FAYRE
The council’s markets team is hosting an arts and crafts fayre in Victoria Street, Grimsby on Saturday, August 7.
There will be something for all tastes, including a range of stalls, live entertainment and free arts and crafts workshops. Stalls include:
Ø hand made cards;
Ø a wood turner;
Ø cake decoration;
Ø jewellery making;
Ø needle craft;
Ø toys, and
Ø flower arranging.
There will be a range of workshops and creative activities available for children and families to encourage children to develop creativity in a fun, hands on, educational way.
Visitors will also be able to see local artists from North Lincolnshire Art Society painting on the day. Abbey Walk Gallery will also be in attendance, exhibiting work and answering art related questions.
There will be a broad selection of roving and static entertainment including street entertainers and musicians as well as ‘Balloonatic’ which teaches visitors how to make balloon dogs, swords, flowers and silly hats, it also holds competitions such as ‘pin the tail on the balloon dog’.
Hot and cold snacks will be available to purchase throughout the day.
Councillor Geoff Lowis, portfolio holder for regeneration and housing for North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “This is sure to be a wonderful event for all of the family. I encourage visitors and residents to come along and join in the fun.
“There is something for everyone on offer, whether you want to take part, learn about arts and crafts, or simply to browse the wide range of stalls.
“Arts and crafts can bring pleasure to the whole family as well as being a very rewarding past time. With the long summer holidays coming up parents may struggle to keep their children entertained, arts and crafts and events like these are a great remedy.”
