LIBERAL YOUTH WELCOMES THE LIBERAL DEMOCRATS COMMITMENT TO SCRAP TUITION FEES
Liberal Youth welcomed emphatically the announcement yesterday that the Liberal Democrat party would be maintaining it’s commitment to scrapping tuition fees for higher education as part of the party’s manifesto for the forthcoming General Election.
Elaine Bagshaw - Chair of Liberal Youth - said: Once again the Liberal Democrats have show that we are the only party that considers the best interests of students.
Time and time again students have been let down. Now they can go to the polls at the next General Election knowing that there is a party who will stand by them and ensure that they are not dragged down by a huge debt burden.
While Labour fail and the Conservatives continue their inaction over tuition fees, the Lib Dems have made a real, considered commitment to abolishing tuition fess for higher education in order to create free, fair and open access to all.
The announcement yesterday would see tuition fees abolished over a six year period, beginning with final year students in 2011 and ending with all fees by the end of 2015. This is due to the current state of the economy due to the Labour cause recession.
