EXHIBITIONS AT CLEETHORPES DISCOVERY CENTRE – CAN YOU BEAR THE WAIT?
The exhibition runs from Saturday, January 10 to Sunday, April 5 in Cleethorpes Discovery Centre’s main exhibition space.
Councillor Steve Hocknell, portfolio holder for culture, leisure and healthier communities, said: “This is another wonderful exhibition which can be enjoyed by all members of the family.
“The bears are made from metals, ceramics and other unexpected materials and have the most unusual names.”
RivetTED is a bear made of large bits of metal all riveted together, WeighTED is made of lead and is very heavy and DisintegraTED is all in pieces, but invites visitors to press a button and put him back together again.
The creators of the exhibition, Xceptional Designs, formed in 1997 and the founders, Pete Rogers and Alex Hallowes live in New Holland.
Pete Rogers is a marine engineer by trade, usually building and designing oil rigs and amphibious vehicles, his metal and kinetic bears are robust and interactive.
Alex Hallowes, who is a silversmith, jewellery maker, lecturer and arts consultant, makes dainty bears also in metal, ceramic and other unexpected materials.
Visitors are invited to join in with the fun and creativity of this interactive exhibition and are asked to get thinking about the next bear to add to this exhibition.
Admission charges apply. Entry for adults cost £2, concessions cost £1.70 with children visiting free with accompanied adults.
An annual pass to the Cleethorpes Discovery Centre costs £4 and allows unlimited entry for a year to all the centre’s exhibitions. Group entry costs are available at a reduced price.
