CAMERON IS PLANNING TO AXE A NUMBER OF HIS SENIOR TEAM, AND WILL IT BE A REPEAT OF THE “NIGHT OF THE LONG KNIVES”
According to the Telegraph online David Cameron is planning a New Year’s reshuffle, and it could be a “night of the long knifes” – similar to the savage Cabinet reshuffle when Harold MacMillan axed a number of his senior team in 1962.
The Tory leader is seeking to boost the quality of his shadow ministerial team ahead of the next general election. Among those likely to be approached are Ken Clarke, the former Chancellor, and Iain Duncan Smith, the former leader.
Mr. Cameron has publicly praised his shadow cabinet for being “a government in waiting.” However, there have been suggestions that beyond his closest allies at the top, the team lacks the experience, confidence and potency that he demands.
He his also planning to bring a number of other rising stars according to the newspapers; so we will have to watch out for the fall out.
